Microbubble drug-delivery modeling at IEEE IUS 2026

Professor Jun Hong Park and collaborators explore how microbubble stress events influence ultrasound-assisted drug delivery, in research featured in the IEEE IUS 2026 poster program.

Understanding how microbubbles interact with drug carriers can help researchers refine ultrasound-assisted delivery. Research coauthored by Professor Jun Hong Park, Sourabh Mehta, Ramasamy Paulmurugan, and Jeremy Dahl appears in the 2026 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS) technical program.

The public abstract describes a modified Rayleigh–Plesset model that connects microbubble dynamics with mechanical stress events and intracellular drug uptake. It identifies the frequency of stress events as a factor in delivery, with supporting flow-cytometry measurements. This is conference research; clinical effectiveness has not been established.

The work is titled “Frequency of Mechanical Stress Events Governs Ultrasound-Assisted Drug Delivery: A Modified Rayleigh-Plesset Modeling Approach.” The official program lists paper 7917 in the Theranostic treatment monitoring poster session on 6 October 2026.
